Industrial Technology - IT
Picture yourself proudly standing on stage, accepting a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology (BSIT) from San Jose State University (SJSU), then moving on to a gratifying and rewarding career. Mission College can turn such a dream into reality. You can take all the lower-division courses of the BSIT degree program right here at Mission College, where the costs are less, the location and parking are convenient, and earn an Associate of Science degree in Industrial Technology (ASIT) with a guaranteed transfer to SJSU to complete the upper-division. To make the transfer seamless and automatic, all IT courses at Mission are fully articulated with identical lower-division classes at SJSU, having identical name, number, and approved course outline.
Just what is the BSIT program? It’s a management-oriented technical curriculum built upon a balanced program of studies drawn from a variety of disciplines—enhanced by a fundamental knowledge of physics, chemistry, mathematics and English. According to the Silicon Valley Leadership Group Projections 2008, "work is plentiful and highly qualified workers are scarce."
The majority of BSIT graduates receive a job offer upon graduation.
Still not completely convinced? Consider this: technology today is not what it used to be (this is not your father's technology). The scope and breadth of today's updated and modernized ASIT and BSIT programs lead to exciting employment choices and options that are as varied as they are numerous. Take a look at Manufacturing Systems or Computer Networking, the two major areas of concentration offered by these innovative new degree programs to see what awaits you.
Manufacturing Systems Technology
Imagine the world around you, from the computer screen you are looking at, to the space shuttle that circles the Earth. Since the Industrial Revolution of the 18th century, most of the items about us have one thing in common: They were all designed and manufactured by modern computerized manufacturing systems, not hand built, like the first steam engines. Factor in materials science, quality control, production processes, marketing and green technology and you have some idea of what it takes to bring a product to market. This is the world that will open to you should you choose this manufacturing option.
Computer Networking Technology
If you had to choose one invention that changed the world of the 21st century, it would probably be the Internet. Close on its heels would be many other related spin offs, such as the cell phone, GPS, Blue Ray, WiFi, and MP3. These and many other modern marvels and products are the offspring of the always changing computer and networking technologies. This is the world that will open to you should you choose this computer networking option.
