  • Based on an adult learner-centered approach using role play, small-group work, case scenarios, and interactive presentations.
  • Topics include: Activities of Daily Living, Light Domestic duties, Dementia and Cognitive Disorders, Safety and Emergency Procedures, Recognizing Abuse and Neglect, CPR and First Aide, Career development, Interview skills, Creating a Resume, and Client Service Excellence

Base curriculum developed by Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute (PHI). Adapted and expanded by the California Partnership for Standards-Based Personal Care Training and Certification project to meet the needs of California's diverse Personal Care Aide workforce. This training is funded by the Affordable Care Act Personal and Home Care Aide State Training (PHCAST) program though the Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration.
