ADA Requirements and Classrooms

You may notice that every semester desk labels and Ergonomic chairs get moved into certain classrooms across campus. These arrangements are specifically set up in support of students who receive services through DSPS. Each furniture accommodation is reserved for student use during specified class times and is labeled to that effect. We ask for your support in keeping these accommodations in place throughout the semester.

As a reminder, if an instructor has a student that needs a furniture accommodation in the classroom, the request will be evaluated and approved through DSPS. That instructor will then receive a bluesheet accommodation form that indicates the student has a physical access need being met through DSPS. If there are any issues with the arrangement, DSPS can be contacted to help resolve it.

If furniture gets moved around during the course of class, please try to return it to the original location. Students who receive furniture accommodations CAN NOT simply move the furniture back into its original location. The nature of some disabilities means that it can be painful or sometimes physically impossible to just roll a chair to a desired spot. If as part of your lesson furniture is moved, we ask that you set aside a few minutes for it to be returned.

Faculty or classified staff who need a furniture accommodation of their own may contact HR to receive support with equal access.

Thank you for being a part of Mission College!
