Citing Sources Web Research Guide

In April 2009, The Modern Language Association (MLA) released the 7th edition of their MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers. This edition includes major modifications to the bibliographic citations (Works Cited entries).

The MLA resources listed on this page may not conform to the 7th edition guidelines. You will need to read the information carefully to determine if the resource has been updated. Most Mission College instructors will require the 7th edition guidelines starting in Fall 2009, but it is a good idea to verify this requirement with your instructor before beginning your research.

Resources that include both MLA and APA Styles:
  • Duke University: Citing Sources (http://library.duke.edu/research/guides/citing) - An excellent resource with many examples.
  • Research and Documentation Online by Diana Hacker (http://www.dianahacker.com/resdoc) - Also includes sample papers.
  • ONLINE! Citation Style (http://www.bedfordstmartins.com/online/citex.html) - A guide to citing Web resources.
  • San Francisco University: Citing Images (http://www.lib.sfu.ca/researchhelp/publicationtypes/images.htm#citing) - A guide to citing images you find on the Web.
  • NoodleBib Citation Creator (http://www.noodletools.com/login.php) - Want help creating MLA- and APA-style citations? Log into NoodleBib, from NoodleTools, and get help creating citations and organizing your research. In order to use the Mission College subscription to NoodleBib, you must first register with NoodleTools (registration instructions). Once you register, you will have access to your own NoodleBib account. Please note that the MLA style format produced by NoodleBib will be updated to conform to the 7th edition guidelines in July 2009.
