The Mission College Academic
Senate is pleased to announce the opportunity for students to be nominated for
the Jonnah Laroche Memorial Scholarship.
Each college may nominate one student from each category: Transferring Student ($500 award) and
Continuing Student ($250 award).
The nominating criteria are:
1. Students from groups that have historically been
under-represented in higher education:
ethnic minorities, women, and persons with disabilities.
2. Scholarship: a
nominee must submit a transcript verifying a 3.0 GPA
3. Nominees are required to submit a 300 word autobiographical
essay outlining the following:
a) Educational goals
b) Career goals
c) Financial need
d) Other supporting information
4. Continuing students must have completed a minimum of 15
units.
5. Transferring students will receive the award upon proof of
entry at the receiving institution.
Please submit the above with a
cover sheet listing the name, address, and phone number of the applicant to the
Mission College Academic Senate Office, Mailstop 12 (Room S1-101) by 10:00
a.m., Thursday, February 19, 2004.
The nominees will be selected by the Mission College Academic Senate and
submitted to the state Academic Senate by February 27, 2004 for consideration. Winners will be selected by March 15,
2004, and honored at the Spring Plenary Session of the Academic Senate.
