WHEN SHOULD I PARTICIPATE IN AN UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH PROGRAM?
  As a Community College student, you should try to participate in an Undergraduate Research Program before transferring and/or graduating so that you can list your undergraduate research experience on both your four-year University application as well as your resume.

It is beneficial to have completed some of your major courses so that you can apply your knowledge to the research experience.
 
     
CRITERIA FOR SELECTING QUALITY UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH PROGRAMS
  You will most likely gain the most from a program that is directly related to your major or identified career of interest.
Consider research that best suits your personal interests; for example: topics that stimulate your mind or motivate you; topics that you discuss with your friends, fellow students, or colleagues.
Make sure your learning objectives are discussed and supported by your supervisor.
Make sure that you will be provided with feedback on your performance.
It is important that you have the length of your commitment clearly defined.
Consider the time you have available. Some topics require extra
time to research and needs lengthy preparation.
 
     
WHAT TO DO WHILE YOU ARE IN YOUR UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH PROGRAM

4. Collect business cards from people you work closely with
(remember, this is a great networking opportunity)
5. Paid or not paid, you can earn college units through your internship/program.
