Customized Courses: The center conducts needs assessment and develops courses and curriculum to meet companies' basic skills training needs. Although courses vary in topic, length, and level to meet client needs, the following sample of courses may give an idea of what could be crafted.
Math for Manufacturing: Using percentages, charts, ratios, as well as company specific mathematical problems, employees develop skills needed in the high tech environment. (48 hours)
Language Skills for Understanding & Applying Workplace Data: Designed for non-native speakers of English, the course showed employees how to read, create, discuss charts and graphs found in their workplace. (40 hours)
Reading, Writing, and Presentation Skills: Employees use critical thinking skills, e-mail, and Power Point to research workplace issues and present their findings to each other and management. (48 hours).
English as a Second Language in the Workplace (Beg., Int., & Adv.): Courses are developed to focus on either oral or written communication, incorporating vocabulary, grammar, and functions of English (e.g. asking for clarification, giving suggestions, leading discussions) needed to perform job duties. (40+ hours)
Improving Your Spoken English: Level I
Overview:
In fast-paced, information-rich, and highly verbal Silicon Valley, proficiency in English is necessary for maximum effectiveness on the job. This ten-week workshop is designed for foreign-born professionals who wish to increase the fluency and comprehensibility of their spoken English.
The sessions will focus on pronunciation, pitch, intonation, and emphasis. In addition to 20 hours of class time, students will receive an assessment with the instructor to identify individual needs and a progress review to set up a developmental plan. Participants will be provided with textbooks and audio and videotapes. There will be oral homework and assignments to interact with native speakers.

Class consists of ten two-hour classes: 5:15 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.
The instructor will also schedule two half-hour sessions with each student outside of the scheduled class hour for assessment and progress review discussions.

Overview
This course is to provide an introduction to American Business Culture and Practices through an immersion course lasting 5 days. The course will stress common language functions in business situations along with an introduction to life in the United States.
